Dokumentationszentrum Glanzstoff: Exhibition & Advertising Photography
Finding fresh ways to photograph history.

Across several assignments, I have created imagery for changing temporary exhibitions at Dokumentationszentrum Glanzstoff in Heinsberg-Oberbruch. Exhibits and historical objects are photographed to spark interest on flyers and the website.

The brief
Dokumentationszentrum Glanzstoff tells the story of a company that shaped Oberbruch and the wider region for generations. Alongside the permanent collection, changing temporary exhibitions explore new themes, people and chapters of this industrial and social history.
New photographs are regularly needed to promote these exhibitions, including for flyers, the website and other promotional materials.
The first assignment has grown into a long-term collaboration: I have now created new imagery for three different exhibitions and communications projects at the documentation centre.
My approach
Every exhibition tells a different story, so each shoot starts with the question of which subjects can best convey it.
Together, we choose exhibits, historical objects and situations, then carefully arrange them for the photographs. Light, perspective and composition preserve their historical character while creating striking images for contemporary communications.
These are photographs with a clear purpose: to spark interest, make history tangible and encourage people to discover each exhibition.
I'm particularly pleased that this has become a recurring collaboration. To me, a lasting partnership is one of the clearest signs that photographs create value for a client beyond the moment they are made.
