Arne Jansen, personal branding and business photographer

Arne Jansen sits on a stool against a green background.

I'm Arne.

I do more than take your photograph. I want to show who you really are and why people can trust you.

For me, a good photograph starts with the person in front of the camera.

I'm interested in people. Their stories. The paths they've taken, the experiences they've had and everything that has made them who they are today.

Perhaps that's why photography means so much more to me than a profession. I want to capture someone's personality, rather than simply record what they look like.

The person comes first.

I believe you need to understand a little about a person before you can photograph them well.

How do you carry yourself? How do you speak to others? What makes people warm to you? What drives you? When do you feel most yourself?

Those little things interest me. For me, a strong portrait happens when I recognise you in a photograph, just as you really are.

And when you look at your photographs later and say:

“Wow. That's exactly me. You understood who I am.”

… then I've done my job well.

Arne Jansen takes photographs with his camera in the studio.

A business owner with a camera.

Of course, there's more to my work than a good feeling.

In business photography and personal branding in particular, images have a job to do. They shape first impressions, say something about your personality and influence how people see you and your company.

I understand that as a business owner too.

I run my own business. I need to position myself, sell my work, build trust and turn good work into a business that works.

That's why, over time, I want to be more to my clients than a photographer who drops in for a few hours and sends over a gallery afterwards.

I want to be a partner in how you present yourself visually.

Whether it's Personal Branding, Business Portraits, Team Photography or authentic corporate photography: a photograph can be beautiful, but above all it should say something about you.

Ideally, your future client will look at it and think:

“I'd trust this person with what matters to me.”

That's when a business photograph works for me.

With me, you can simply be yourself.

I'm outgoing and easy to talk to. Usually in a good mood, always ready with a joke and probably chatting with you sooner than you'd expect.

At the same time, I'm quick to notice when someone feels uncomfortable. That's hardly unusual in front of a camera.

I know the feeling well: I don't enjoy being in front of one myself. Perhaps that helps me understand how my clients feel.

You don't need to know how to stand, where to look or what to do with your hands. We'll talk, laugh and get to know each other. Before long, the camera should fade into the background.

I don't want you to play a part during a shoot.

I want to photograph you.

Arne Jansen smiles with his arms folded against a green background.

Over 15 years. Still curious.

I took my first paid photography jobs part-time more than 15 years ago. I learnt a great deal through real assignments, honest feedback and, above all, the people in front of my camera.

Eventually, something that had been part of my life for many years became my full-time business.

Today, I know that was the right decision.

It gives me the freedom to do what fulfils me: meeting people, understanding their stories and turning them into photographs, even when the days aren't perfect.

My clients' appreciation still means an enormous amount to me.

Arne Jansen talks to a model by a studio window.

And when the camera's off?

I'm really not that different.

I enjoy meeting new people, hearing their stories and getting enthusiastic about all sorts of things. I like company, I'm spontaneous and I'm rarely short of a joke.

I also enjoy peace and quiet when I get the chance. Nature, relaxation, travel, new countries and fresh impressions are the perfect balance for me. You'll quite often find me at an equestrian event too, safely beside the horse. I leave the riding to other people.

I don't need to be tied to a particular place. Family and friends are important, of course, but I warm to people quickly and I'm curious about what's around the next corner.

Perhaps that's why I soon feel at home wherever I am.

What really matters to me is living with contentment and a positive outlook, being happy for other people's success and having people around me who are doing well.

If you ask me what success means to me, my answer is simple:

Appreciation.

When people recognise themselves in my photographs, value my work and a working relationship grows into real trust, that's success to me.

Of course I want my work to succeed financially too. I do run a business. But it's the people I meet and the connections I make that mean the most to me.

Now you know a little about me.

I'd love to find out who you are.

Tell me about yourself, your company and what you want your photographs to achieve.

You don't need to tell me which pose you have in mind or which background we should use.

I'd rather hear who you are and how you want others to see you.

We'll work out the rest together.

Let's talk

Now I'd like to get to know you.

You've learnt a little about me. But I'm much more interested in who you are, what drives you and what you have planned. Perhaps we can make something really good together.
