The brief
How do you make a training method visible when it starts with something you can't immediately see: the relationship between the brain, perception and movement?
For braincoacher, I documented a multi-day workshop with skiers in Flims, Switzerland. Simon Deussen introduced brain-centred training approaches and demonstrated how specific stimuli and tests can have an immediate influence on perception and movement.
The brief went beyond documenting a workshop. The photographs needed to show how braincoacher works: personally, practically and closely with the athlete, from understanding the theory through individual tests to application in sport.
My approach
I observed the workshop as it unfolded. My focus was on real moments: concentrated expressions during tests, responses to new stimuli, exchanges within the group and David's work with individual athletes.
I deliberately combined close details, personal moments and wider documentary views. The series moves from the seminar room to practical work with the skier, making a complex training approach visually understandable.
The resulting imagery shows what braincoacher does and, above all, conveys what working with them feels like: individual, attentive, human and firmly rooted in practice.
