New Wave Voodoo Tanks: Product Photography in Wassenberg
When the product becomes the light.
At a glance
For Voodoo Tanks by New Wave Aquarium Concepts, I created product images that reveal the glow of the phosphorescent joints. The lighting keeps the aquarium visible without overpowering the effect.

The brief
With Voodoo Tanks, New Wave Aquarium Concepts developed an aquarium whose distinctive detail becomes its main attraction: phosphorescent joints that glow in the dark, giving the aquarium an entirely new character.
The product presentation needed photographs that would make this unusual effect visible and tangible, alongside showing the aquarium itself.
The main challenge was the lighting: how do you show a product whose special effect appears only when the surrounding light disappears?
My approach
I deliberately worked with different lighting moods and the balance between illuminating the product and keeping the setting dark.
The aquarium had to remain recognisable as a high-quality product, while the lighting couldn't overpower the characteristic Voodoo Tanks glow. Carefully placed light, different perspectives and close details created a series that highlights both the complete product and the effect of its materials.
The resulting product photographs show what makes Voodoo Tanks distinctive, as well as what they look like.
A project where light was both a photographic tool and part of the product itself.
