The brief

Egen designs and builds high-quality patio roofs that do far more than provide shelter from the weather. Its exclusive solutions extend the living space, individually planned to suit the architecture and the property.

The new website needed high-quality imagery that would show completed projects authentically while conveying the quality and exclusivity of the roofs.

The images have a clear purpose: to help prospective clients imagine how it might feel to sit beneath a patio roof themselves, as well as showing what it looks like.

My approach

For Egen, I regularly photograph selected projects at clients' homes. I consider the relationship between architecture, surroundings, materials and light, alongside the patio roof itself.

The quality of light is particularly important to me. I photograph the projects to give spaces depth, bring out the quality of the materials and create a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Alongside wide views, I capture details and varied perspectives that reveal the design and workmanship.

The resulting imagery documents architecture and creates an emotional connection. The photographs are used on the website and in high-quality photo books during client consultations, helping turn a technical solution into a clear vision of a future outdoor space.

For a high-quality product, photographs need to show why you'd want to sit there yourself, as well as what has been built.
